The NorthBay Field Trip is a week-long trip to North East, MD where students learn about environmental issues as well as a little bit about themselves.

THE NORTHBAY MISSION: Challenge middle school students to realize that their attitudes and actions have a lasting impact on their future, the environment and the people around them by using approved Maryland Department of Education curriculum and the outdoors as an integrating context.

The current 6th grade will be traveling to NorthBay from January 23rd - January 27th, 2017.

Completed NorthBay forms are due no later than December 20th, 2016.





Quick Facts About the Morning of the Trip
  • Your student must be at the school by 7:30 am for morning roll call in order to be counted as present for the day. Please remember that students who are not attending NorthBay will still be required to attend school each day.
  • Students attending the trip will drop off their luggage at the entrance by the gym. Please make sure that all luggage belonging to your student is clearly labeled with the student's name.
  • If your student has prescription medicine it must be in its original prescription container and placed in a gallon zip-top baggy that is clearly labeled with the student's name as well as CRMS. The prescriptions will be transported to and from NorthBay by one of the administrators.
  • The students will be leaving for NorthBay around 9:30 am and returning around 2:00 pm on Friday.
  • Keep an eye on the weather for the week! Please be sure to pack appropriate attire for outdoor activities throughout the NorthBay week. In the event of a school delay we will leave as soon as we can after the students arrive. In the event of a closure we will leave for NorthBay on the next school day.





What to Bring to NorthBay . . . and what not to bring!
Students and adults are responsible for bringing personal items and clothing that are appropriate for the season. A partial, suggested list follows:
Clothing
  • Rain gear and boots
  • Tennis or hiking shoes
  • Shoes to wear in the water
  • One pair of other shoes
  • Warm jacket
  • Sweaters
  • Several changes of outer clothing
  • Changes of inner clothing
  • Hats and Gloves
  • Several pairs of socks
  • Pajamas
Personal Gear
  • Towel, soap, and shampoo
  • Toothbrush & Toothpaste
  • Medications
    • must be in a zip-top bag with your name on it
    • in original prescription bottle!)
    • DO NOT pack medication in suitcases!
      • give to coordinating teacher for safe transport to NorthBay
  • Writing materials
  • Water bottle
  • Personal pack of tissues
Optional Personal Gear
  • Flashlight
  • Camera & film
  • Store money (small bills)
  • Sunglasses
  • Backpack
Add for Winter:
  • Winter Hat (ear muffs are not enough)
  • 2 pr. mittens or gloves
  • Long underwear

NorthBay does not allow students to have radios, CD players, or other electronic equipment. Please notify your kids not to bring these items. We ask adults not to bring these items as well. NB will have plenty of music going on during the week. Students who bring such items will be asked to turn them into the office upon arrival, and they will be returned on the day of departure. There are phones at NorthBay and students can arrange a time to call home during the week.

  • Radios or CD Players
  • MP3 Players or IPods
  • Gaming Platforms (XBox, GameBoy, etc.)
  • With Alcohol, Tobacco, or Drugs, and Weapons, NorthBay has zero tolerance - parents will be notified and you will be sent home, along with any other appropriate measures.
